Student poem is published in Easy English News...thanks to her tutor!

From First Snow to Fashion Shows
Literacy tutor Jeannine Clark noticed early on how expressive her student’s writing was during their weekly sessions. One day, she spotted an ad in Easy English News offering a $20 award for selected submissions. Thinking it could be both a welcome bonus and a confidence boost, she encouraged her student to enter.
The piece—titled Snow Feeling—described the student’s first time seeing snow. It was selected and published in the December 2024 issue.
A native Spanish speaker from Venezuela, the student began working with her local volunteer literacy program in 2023. Disciplined and determined to improve her English, she quickly began making progress. Before long, she landed a position with a local attorney as a bilingual receptionist, where her ease in communication made her stand out.
Through that job, she met a contact who introduced her to a company that manages high-profile fashion events, including the MET Gala. Soon, she was transporting gowns and gala-wear between California and New York City for celebrities and clients. That experience inspired her to launch her own contracting work in the fashion industry, serving as the go-between for dressmakers and celebrity clients—work she continues to this day.
